Headfield Junior is a school on the outskirts of Dewsbury, built upon a strong faith and the shared belief that all children will be nurtured and blossom to be successful citizens of the world. In partnership with parents, Headfield is a place where all children are empowered to take risks and encouraged to push boundaries in an environment that stretches both intellectual and creative thinking, challenges stereotypes and develops a strong sense of togetherness. Whilst with us, children will experience a strong curriculum rich in practical experiences and personalised learning that is engaging and fun.
We are an oversubscribed school with over 610 children on roll from ages 7 - 11. We have a diverse school society and children come from a range of backgrounds. Our environment influences the developing attitudes of the children we teach and it can be a powerful vehicle for the promotion of understanding and practice of equal opportunities.
More and more children are enrolling at Headfield who have isolated language, where there is no adult or peer heritage language support available to them. Therefore, we are seeking volunteers to help support these children to settle in to their new surroundings and become familiar with the English language, whilst being able to use their language spoken at home.
