You can connect with us virtually or in person, the peer supporters service is located right outside the Advice Centre in a purpose built area which is quiet and relaxing.

Testimonials

"I had a difficult day at work, and because I take things personally, it sometimes really affects me beyond work hours. I was terrified of being judged for my behaviour, so I refrained from discussing it with my friends or family. I was happy to be able to discuss it with someone I knew wouldn't criticise me as I spoke to a peer listener."

"I have two children, so as you could expect, in addition to studying, I also have many other duties. I hardly have friends with good contacts because I never have time to meet up with people or socialise. I decided to try out this peer listening service after seeing it online, and I now think it was one of the best things I did at the time. The service was easy to access, I was able to schedule a chat with a peer listener at a time that worked for me."

"I was feeling a bit apprehensive about returning to uni after having a tough time, I hadn’t really made any friends last year and I was worried about moving back to uni for year 2. I accessed the peer support service and found them really friendly, it was comforting to know i had someone I could turn to, a friendly face. It made me feel less alone."

"I was having problems with my housemates and it was causing me quite a lot of stress, I messaged a peer listener and arranged a chat, it was good to be able to tell someone what was going on, someone not involved who listened without judging."

"I look after my mum who has been quite ill recently. I usually manage to juggle everything quite well but sometimes it feels hard. I accessed the peer listening service because friends don’t always understand. It was nice to sit down and have a moan, and I left feeling a little lighter."
