Role Description

  • The purpose of the Cairn Youth Network is to educate young people about the issue of domestic abuse. You will be involved in raising awareness of domestic abuse to students at your university campus.
  • Creating and running a society at your university and using this as a platform to carry out your role.
  • Organising events and activities like discussion groups, speaker events, workshops, panel events, self-defence classes etc.
  • Affiliating with local charities and your council to engage the community.
  • Engaging in fundraising for the society and the charity.

 

Person Specification

This opportunity is open to students from all degree disciplines at any stage of study.

Essential skills:

  • A genuine interest in addressing the issue of domestic violence
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Strong problem solver and ability to show initiative
  • Strong organisational skills


Desirable skills:

  • Experience in the non-profit sector
  • Creative in generating new ideas to address this issue
  • Experience of using a range of social media tools including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter.
  • Strong leadership skills.

 

The Youth Network is the next generation of leaders and policy makers and we are looking to expand through the Ambassador program.  The Ambassadors will be the voice of the Youth Network at their campus. You will be provided with all of the information, training and support needed to make an impact.

 

In return, you will receive the opportunity to expand their network, obtain mentoring from our directorate, gain excellent experience to cite in job applications and at interviews, a reference and much more.
