The new Huddersfield Essentials induction gives an overview to incoming students about preparing for university and study ahead of the term starting. The Students' Union was a partner in the creation of the Huddersfield Essentials induction module.

For most courses, there is no need to worry about reading academic texts in advance of starting as that's what you will do after you begin your course at University.
It's also a good idea to take a look at our resources before you rush out and buy any books - you are likely to find that most of what you need is already in the Library, either in print or online. Also, if you do want your own copy of a particular book, it is much easier to judge which ones you might find most useful once you have had the opportunity to evaluate them by looking at library copies.

I am proposing that learning materials for lessons should be available from the 1st of September when we start the new academic year to allow students to have a head start on familiarising themselves with the content. They can buy textbooks in advance and students with PLSP's have time to edit material to their specific needs before teaching commences.
