Idea by Taha Khan - SU President
Jo Cox centre was recently built for the students coming from different religious backgrounds and it most certainly is living up to the WELL standard they university is applying for. However, there's one thing that is urgently needed in the Jo Cox centre and every other building in our University, "Muslim Showers" also known as water bidets. As a small part of a huge Muslim community ( 20% students of the University belong to a Muslim background ) I think it is necessary that at least one restroom in every building has a muslim shower, not only because of sanitary issues but it is also obligatory for us to properly clean ourselves after using the toilet. Students are unable to offer prayers because they can't properly clean themselves after using the restrooms which makes water bidets/muslim showers an urgent need. With the new Health Innovation Campus currently being built, it is also important to see muslim showers fitted into new buildings, especially with these buildings being built to platinum WELL building standards, meaning the spaces will advance the health and wellbeing of users. This will also support and promote the ongoing commitment from the university towards equality, diversity and inclusion of all of our students, in all of our spaces.

Do it
Yes
That is something that should’ve been there since the beginning considering the number of muslim students studying in the university, None the less the muslim shower is an urgent need and should be fitted in at least one of the restrooms in every building
In my opinion with a diverse student community, and equal rights it has to be installed in various toilets or restrooms within the university campus. This will reveal our university is one of the most inclusive universities in the UK providing equal rights and considering the demands of various communities.
I strongly agree, this is necessary.
I strongly agree, this is necessary.
It has already happened in King's college London and its a necessity for each and every muslim.
In my opinion this is a basic necessity And these should be installed
Strongly agree to this initiative.
Toilet showers (bidets) are essential for Muslim students who need to perform ablution before prayer. Without access to proper facilities, Muslim students may struggle to fulfill this obligation, which can impact their ability to perform religious observance whilst on campus. Providing toilet showers on campus can help ensure that Muslim students can fulfill their religious obligations and promote inclusivity and respect for diversity. It signals that the university values the needs and well-being of all its students, regardless of their religious beliefs or practices.
Strongly Agreed
Strongly agree, a great initiative
Yes please! University should really consider installing a bidet/muslim shower.
This is a great idea.. or else every time I have to use washroom I always have to wet tissue before using washroom and it’s seriously annoying.. this idea is really great.
It’s called a bidet and is a brilliant idea! Also used in parts of Asia and Middle East. Anyone who went to the World Cup would have ‘felt’ the benefits! Muslims and non-Muslims can use them. Great idea!
This should have been done ages ago
Great idea for Muslims, and non-Muslims! Should’ve been done a while ago.

Essential need to all muslims and as university have majority of muslims; I think toilets without muslim showers are incomplete

Yes please do
On behalf of entire Muslim community please try to understand that having shower jets in toilets is like basic human need for us. Most of us don’t stay in university for more than our attendance sensitive classes since we can’t relive our selves without using water jets. It’s very uncomfortable and mentally irritating for us. This facility will not only ease our challenges while our stay in university but also put a positive impact on our mental wellbeing and will give us a impression that university truly values diversity to its true core sense.
