As we all know there's a looming cost of living crisis hanging over the nation and this impacts us all... maintenance loans are just not enough to help cover these rising costs and many students are having to take on extra work or having to cut back on things just to cover the basics.
I have seen other universities providing grants to their students to help cover utility bills as long as they can provide proof that they contribute towards utility bills and I believe that our university should be providing a similar help to it's students. The university have provided a list of ways they are helping to combat the energy problems but many of these are centred around campus and wouldn't be accessible for a lot of students (commuter/ blended learning etc.). Therefore I feel like a grant towards bills would be more accessible to all students and help ease some of the pressure.
