For many students who live locally to the university, access to campus and town is easy in the daytime, but at night this can we difficult, as they must walk 10-15 minutes at night in order to meet friends, go to societies, and attend socials; and with the winter month meaning it is colder and darker earlier, this can make the streets emptier and scarier. It also does not help that there are little/no public buses going into town from areas like Saw Mill, Aspley, and Kingsmill Studios, and that taxis/Ubers are expensive. Leeds University already use the night bus system - a bus system that travels from student hotspots in town, back to local accomodation within a maximum 20 minute radius. These buses are also very affordable at only £1-£2 per ride, saving money on taxis and Ubers too. These buses would travel from around 9pm to around 1am-2am, and could arrive every half an hour, the buses could stop at the university where students would make a short walk to, and could also stop on the road where Camel Club is, as it is quite a popular student hotspot (for some reason XD). The buses would also be for students only and would require a student ID to be shown, unless a student has no other way to get home and does not have it on hand. This would provide a lot of reassurance to students at it is safe and responsible so students feel less unsafe at night time.
