Introduce Yourself 

Hi, my name is Diana, my pronouns are (she/her) and I am your new 23/24 Education Officer. I am an international student from Latvia, so you might have seen me at Global Week events as the President of the Baltic Society, Or you might remember me as the Bioscience Society’s Manager, Global Citizens’ Network’s Assistant and Activities Assistant. Altogether, it’s going to be my third year working in the SU and helping students in many different ways. Thank you so much for your trust and giving me this chance!

I can barely reach the pedals in my car (BMW E30 325i touring with swapped M50B25) but I can drift it.

What did I study during university?

BSc (Hons) Pharmacology with Research Placement Research title: The Kynurenine Pathway and It’s Role in Glioblastoma cells

If I were a fresher student again, what would be the number one tip you’d give?

Engage with the clubs and groups that genuinely interest you, whether it's tennis, Latin Dance, Bioscience, Art, or any other passion you have. These spaces became the backdrop for me to connect with remarkable individuals who have become cherished friends. Participating in their activities not only bolstered my self-assurance but also provided a crucial outlet for stress, significantly enhancing my overall college journey. Equally significant is to release the excessive concern about grades. While they hold some importance, they should never be the sole measure of your identity. While putting in the effort for good grades is commendable, it should never come at the expense of your emotional well-being and happiness. Remember, grades can certainly add value to your resume, yet they should never be seen as the sole determinant of your employability.
