You thought you knew everything there was to know about HudLive by now, didn’t you?
Well, believe it or not, we’ve had another little something up our sleeves for a while, and we can now officially announce we’ve added another two acts to our jam packed line up.
Introducing Larkins and The Courtyards!
Described as a blend of indie folk rock with distinct hints of an acoustic influence, The Courtyards are joining HudLive as an exciting opening act.
Formed in Huddersfield and made up of five self-proclaimed ‘procrastinating uni students’, the band are humble about their success. Comprising of Matthew Riley on lead vocals; Callum Usher on guitar, bass, and backing vocals; Nathan Pearson on guitar and bass guitar; Mortimer Pavlitski on keyboard and synth; and Luke Allcock on drums, cajon and backing vocals, the band are set to bring out a great new single soon, so if you’re a fan of their sound keep your eyes and ears peeled.
When asked of their feelings about playing at Freshers’, bass guitarist Nathan said: "When I found out we were playing at HudLive with amazing artists like Sigma & The Carnabys I was stunned, I can't wait!”
Callum added: “I’ve loved The Carnabys for ages, so when I realised we were supporting them, I was absolutely buzzing! It should be an amazing night.”
Catch The Courtyards on the HudLive main stage at 17:00 for a heavy dose of their folk rock tunes!
"Huge credit has to go to Larkins for their ability to have created a track this accomplished so early on in their career and is surely a pointer to the potential greatness that this band could achieve" - Emerging North
A four-piece indie-rock band from Manchester, Larkins are set to take the stage in a big way over the coming months. Already hugely successful at the Whiskey Sessions Unsigned Act Competition, managing getting into the final round, the band are about to release their first EP ‘Bitter Lady’.
Formed over a year ago, Larkins sound features clever lyrics, indie-rock riffs and big bold choruses creating the perfect energetic mood in their music.
“We're buzzing to play HudLive - it's our last gig of what has been a huge summer gigging all over the country and recording new songs so it'll be a great place to sign off the summer,” said Josh Noble, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the band. “Our set list has grown and grown and after playing warehouse earlier in the year it's going to be awesome to come back to Huddersfield and hit people with new tunes off the debut EP.
"It's going to be a huge night and hopefully we can add a bit of Indie rock to the line-up that was missing from last year's HudLive. We're privileged to be asked to play, we're really looking forward to it!”
Larkins will be playing at 17:45 on the main stage at HudLive – don’t miss it!
