Voting by post? Don’t miss the deadline to get it sent in.
If you have taken up the option to vote via postal vote in this year’s General Election then today is your deadline to send your vote in. This will ensure it arrives on time and can be counted.
Alternatively, your postal vote may be delivered to any polling station in the relevant electoral area, or at the Electoral Services office in Huddersfield before 22:00 on Polling Day – this Thursday, 7 May.
If you accidentally spoil or lose your ballot paper(s), you can apply for a replacement. You’ll need to contact the electoral helpline on 01484 221067 who can issue a replacement up until 17:00 on Polling Day. You can also contact them via email.
Remember, you should complete your ballot paper yourself and in private and you must not let anyone pressure you when it comes to voting. If you think someone is trying to influence who you or another person votes for you, you should call Electoral Services – 01484 221650.
Not sure where your nearest polling station is located? Head to the Kirklees Council website and enter your postcode into their checker and it’ll let you know where and how far away your polling station is.
Make sure to double check this if you have accessibility issues so that the appropriate measures can be put in place to ensure you can vote.
