Multi Factor Authentication

Friday 29-04-2022 - 12:00
Microsoft

All University accounts are enabled with MFA/2FA - this means occasional security checks at login where you will be required to verify your sign in via either a text code or via the Microsoft Authenticator app.  If you get a new phone or tablet, and have not updated your MFA/2FA details, you will not be able to verify your login when next requested.  Therefore, you should undertake the process below before you stop using the currently registered device.

  1. Log in to My Account (microsoft.com) on your computer.
  2. On the Security Info icon, click Update Info
  3. Update your mobile phone number if required and/or delete the device (your old one, that is being replaced) linked to Microsoft authenticator and then add a new method
  4. Install Microsoft Authenticator on your new device and scan the QR on your computer screen, complete the verification process

If you happen to have lost access to your old device, you will need to contact it.support@hud.ac.uk
