Welcome facebook

We’re sure you’re all feeling a mixture of emotions about the outbreak of Coronavirus and how it will affect your studies and the community. Here is everything we know about what the University is doing to ensure your safety and what you can expect during this time. Looking for the University's statement? Find it on the student hub.

Friday 20th March (update)

The University campus is now closed to all students, staff and visitors. We will continue to talk to the University, and keep you updated with information as soon as we find out more.

Tuesday 17th March (update)

The University have decided to stop teaching from Wednesday 18 March (that includes the 18th so don't come in tomorrow!). Look for this email, if you can't see it, you can contact Adesewa, our Education Officer at su.education@hud.ac.uk.

Unfortunately all our events until 20 April have been cancelled. This includes the Amsterdam trip and the Alton Towers trip. You'll get refunds if you booked onto these. We hope you use your refunds to have the summer of your life!

Graduations are NOT cancelled, just postponed!

Monday 16th March (original)

Firstly, the University has announced that all face-to-face teaching is stopping on Wednesday 18 March. This means that all your classes will be conducted online until the end of term.

All assessments until 27 March will continue as planned, after that they will be conducted online. There are no plans for assessments after Easter yet, but you will be updated as soon as this is confirmed.

However, though there will not be any teaching as of next week, the University will still be open. This includes labs and studios for students who need them for assessment prep and coursework.

Now, student accommodation is running as normal, just be aware of when you need to self-isolate or quarantine after being close to others who are sick. We will update you if this changes.

There’s no news on graduations yet, again, you will get more information as soon it’s available.

All Students’ Union organised activities & events will be cancelled, including those organised by our Sports Clubs and Societies. Varsity has also been cancelled this year, as have the rest of the BUCS fixtures. You can email students.union@hud.ac.uk for any refunds or queries.

Our office will still be open if you have any questions, as well as HudLets and the Advice Centre. If you’d rather not come in person, you can reach the Advice Centre at advice-centre@hud.ac.uk or by calling 01484 473446. The SU Shop will be open 9am – 5pm.

Your wellbeing is our first priority, if you have any worries you can email, ring or drop us a message on social media and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. We’ll be sharing some strategies for wellbeing and things you can do if you’re quarantined on our social media. You can also access 24/7 support at www.bigwhitewall.com if you can’t get in touch with us.
