Are you a University of Huddersfield student who has a car and wants to find suitable parking? There are several car parks near the campus where you can park just a short distance to the University. On the campus itself, parking is limited so we advise people to seek nearby car parks instead. Both short-stay and long-stay car parks are available.

On-campus parking

Disabled parking – no charge

Students with a council-issued Blue Badge on display in their car can park in designated disabled bays on campus. There is a limited number of these available and they are given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Alternately, there is free on-street parking for disable badge holders throughout Huddersfield.

Student ambulant parking – no charge

Students with disabilities can park in ambulant student spaces, if they are given an appropriate parking permit after being assessed by a University Disability Advisor.

Their permit must be on display in their car at all times when parked in a student ambulant bay.

Off-campus parking

These are two of the main car parks that students with cars use. Prices are correct as of February 2020. Further details can be found on the Kirklees Council website.

Kingsgate

Cost of parking: 90p per hour

Time limit: long stay

Springwood

Spring Wood Street, HD1 4BE

Number of spaces: 380

Cost of parking: £2.50 for five hours, £4.00 all day

Time limit: up to 10 hours

Out of hours parking – no charge

Students can use their valid student ID card (without needing a parking permit) to park for free in both the Firth Street and Queens Street South car parks after 17:15 and before 06:00, from Monday to Friday; as well as all day at the weekend.
