As concerned students, we urge our educational institutions to provide us with training in first aid, basic life support, major haemorrhage control and emergency triage. We believe that this training is necessary to close the care gap that exists in the event of a major incident. As we have learned from major events such as the Manchester Arena attack, London Bombings and the Hillsborough disaster, members of the public can play a crucial role in supporting injured people prior to the arrival of emergency services. We believe that this training will not only equip us with the necessary skills to save lives but also instil a sense of responsibility towards our community.
