After much research and discussions through an externally coordinated Feasability Study, the USAB have made the decision to reject the building of a 4G pitch on campus. This is due to the footprint space it would require to design and construct a 4G Pitch within the campus and grounds that the University own. However, the University and the Students' Union are now looking at partnership opportunities in the local area, however this is likely to be a minimum of a 20 minute walk and will primarily facilitate sports club activity.
There is a new 4G pitch that has been completed at Lockwood Park and a new regular pitch (suitable for hockey) at Storthes hall will be completed in the new year.
This year Brogan ( President of the Women’s Football Team) and Josh ( President of the Men’s Football Team) are teaming up in order to get a 4G pitch for the University.
The current training facilities often cause injuries due to the hard ground, and make it difficult to play at the level we want to. The pitch we play games on typically gets waterlogged easily which leads to games been cancelled and changed, which can cause lack of players or having to give the points away to the opposition.
we have already received nearly 200 signatures in 2 days so feel this is something that is wanted by a lot of people.
