Ditch your regular outfit and get out your onesies and raise cash for BBC Children in Need this Friday.

Every year our students come up with new ways of raising money for this worthy cause and this year is no different.

The Raise and Give Society are asking all students and staff to get on board with their Onesie Day and are asking for a £1 donation from those who wish to take part. Money raised will go to support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

With the winter days and nights here, what better way to stay warm and look extremely cool silly then wearing your onesie to University.

Students' Union President, Josh Elderfield said of the campaign: "I’m sure we can all agree that Children in Need has proved to be a great spectacle over the years, and has had a real impact on young children across the UK who are perhaps not as fortunate as many others.

"It is a perfect demonstration of the country coming together to raise money to support these children, through the many fundraising events both the BBC does, as well as local communities all around the country.

"It's great that RAG are doing their bit on Friday and if you want to donate money to support this cause, I’m sure you’ll find them around campus in their colourful, vibrant attire! You’ll most likely spot me too in my teddy bear onesie!"

We want as many people as possible to get on board with this so we can raise as much money as possible for this well deserving charity.

Alternatively, if you are planning your own Children In Need event please tell us about it as we would love to know what else is happening around campus.

If you would like to contribute the collections you make from your own fundraising to the Raise and Give Society total so we can donate as a whole that would be fantastic and it would show just how charitable Univerisity of Huddersfield students are.

Donations can be made at the Students' Union Helpdesk.

BBC Children in Need works throughout the year to ensure that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood, and the chance to reach their full potential. It relies on the energy and commitment of thousands of fundraising heroes and supporters across the UK, who donate their time and money to support the Appeal. Whether through cake sales, dance offs or treasure hunts, every penny of the money raised goes towards supporting projects across the UK.

Every single penny raised by BBC Children in Need goes directly to UK projects working with children and young people who may be affected by neglect, abuse or poverty, or those who have faced challenges in their lives such as serious illness, disabilities and psychological disorders.
