The Students’ Union has launched a search for a new Chancellor for the University of Huddersfield.
It follows the decision by HRH, The Duke of York to step down as Chancellor of the University and allow for the appointment of his successor.
The search for a new Chancellor was launched on Tuesday 26 November and the Students’ Union will coordinate this; putting students and staff voices at the heart of any decision.
Emmanuel Haruna, President of the Students’ Union said:
“The Students’ Union is run by students for students; which is why we’re delighted that the University has taken the decision to put students at the forefront of the process by asking us to coordinate the nominations.
The Students’ Union would like to see the new Chancellor reflect the diversity of the student body, and have the values of the student and staff population at the forefront of their thoughts.
We’re encouraging anyone who has an interest in the University to have their say; this could be staff, students or the general public.”
Suggestions should be made online via the new Chancellor nomination form and should be received by 4 January.
A shortlist will be compiled for the consideration of the University's Council's Governance and Membership Committee.
