Did you love Freshers’ Festival 2014? Why not become a volunteer this year and help make 2015 the best Freshers’ yet!

We have loads of exciting events happening over the course of Freshers' Festival and we need keen students full of energy and enthusiasm to help make them happen.

We’re searching for fun, sociable and friendly students to fill the following roles:

1. Welcome Assistants

Daytime

In the daytime we need confident, enthusiastic and approachable volunteers to help welcome new students arriving at halls of residence across Huddersfield.

If you like taking the time to help others, make sure you sign up to volunteer here:

Evening

In the evening we need confident, outgoing volunteers with strong leadership skills. You will be tasked to meet students at halls and take them to our partner bar for a great night out.

If you’re a bit of a social butterfly and love mixing with new people, then this is the volunteering opportunity for you!

2. Event Support Volunteers

If you’re full of enthusiasm and love to have fun, then why not volunteer to help out at any of the great events we have happening throughout Freshers’ Festival? There are loads of exciting and varying opportunities on offer - from handing out goody bags at Freshers’ Fair to serving slices of cake at a tea party – and all of them promise to be great events.

If you want to help us make Freshers' great, make sure you sign up on our volunteering page.

3. Tea and Chat Volunteers

Tea and Chat is a brand new campaign created by the Students' Union to increase awareness and provide information about the Advice Centre.

We need volunteers to help with the launch of this exciting new campaign which will take place the week before Freshers' at a variety of student accommodation sites across Huddersfield.

This volunteer opportunity will focus on talking to students about all the services the SU has to offer including our awesome sports clubs, societies, representation and volunteering opportunities - so if you fancy a cuppa and a good natter, sign yourself up.

This post is a one-off opportunity. However, Tea and Chat will also be running regularly throughout the year - make sure you sign up to learn more.

So what’s in it for you?

Aside from helping others, you’ll be a huge part of the Students’ Union’s biggest annual event. You’ll meet new people and make new friends, undertake training, get FREE entry to the event you support, a FREE ticket to HudLive, and a FREE Freshers’ Festival t-shirt.

Remember that volunteering opportunities look great on a CV and can help you secure a job in the future.

Becoming a Freshers’ Festival volunteer will allow you to develop transferable skills for future employment including communication, time management, information giving, interpersonal and team building skills.

The deadline for volunteer sign-ups is Sunday 30 August, so act fast and make sure you don’t miss out!
