Here at the SU, we’re known for putting on boss events throughout the year from Welcome all the way to summer. One of our absolute all-time favourites is our annual Bonfire Night event at Storthes Hall.

This year, we told you it would be bigger and better than ever. Well, guess what – it was the biggest turnout we’ve ever seen! We completely sold out, selling a record-breaking 2000 tickets (700 more than last year).

Students, staff, families and friends all gathered at Storthes Hall to experience this year’s Bonfire Night and everyone came together as one big community; gathering and huddling together, keeping warm and cosy by the fire (and oh boy, was it one heck of a bonfire!). You might say we had a blast…

The night was packed with entertainment from start to finish, complete with fire jugglers, rides and, of course, the long anticipated, lit-as-heck fireworks. Yes, you read that correctly, someone literally juggled fire. At one point he had a flaming whip, like a modern day Indiana Jones. Those fireworks though, they deserve a moment of honour. Just when you thought it was over, in comes the grand finale – truly spectacular.

And can we just take a moment to talk about the food?! How great were those bubble waffles, hot dogs and of course the toffee apples…? The thought is enough to make you drool.

If you were lucky enough to get a ticket this year – we were glad to have you. For those who didn’t, you truly missed out on one amazing night. But don’t worry – you can join us next year, even if you’re no longer studying with us.
