Hey everyone,
It’s coming to the end of the current Officers’ time here at Huddersfield. There’s been some absolutely fantastic pinch-me moments over the past year and I can honestly say I’ve loved every second.
It’s exciting for you guys; meeting your newly elected Officers, but a mix of emotions for me as I’ll be leaving sooner than expected. Unfortunately, I regret to inform you that I will be leaving the Students’ Union at the end of this week and will no longer be your SU President.
I’ve loved every second of my time working for the Students’ Union and have some really fond memories of my time here. It’s given me the experience needed to pursue my dream career, make friends for life (you can’t get rid of me that easily) and, most importantly, I’m proud to say I’ve done my best to make student life better.
Finding a graduate job can take months. I was fortunate and got offered my dream position after a successful interview and they want me to start next week! I decided to accept the offer in the knowledge that you’ll be in safe hands with the support of the current Officer team.
I’d like to say a big thanks to everyone who has supported me over past two years as VP Education and President! I’ve been given the opportunity to make so many positive changes across campus, including:
We can now look ahead to more positive things to come – my first and last Varsity! I’ve got my tickets, have you? It’s not to be missed, trust me!
I’ll also be having a BIG leaving party (what else?) on Friday 31st March to celebrate and look back on all the things we’ve achieved. You’re all invited, so come along to The Warehouse at 5.00pm for the finale – I’ll try my best not to cry, no promises though!
Before I leave, here’s a quick update on who will be taking responsibility for everything (I know some of you will be curious, but don’t worry, we’ve got it covered). Your Education Officer, Charlotte Jackson, will be here to look after all ongoing projects in my absence.
All the best to everyone at the University of Huddersfield. It’s been a pleasure and I’ll be sad to say goodbye!
Sabrina,
SU President
