On Wednesday we held our first ever 2nd-hand Book Sale in the Students’ Union, opened by Andy Booth of Huddersfield Town FC.

169 books had been sold, putting £1331 into student sellers’ pockets! £37 was raised for RAG, supporting Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and Mind from those who opted to donate £1 per book.

After comparing the prices students paid for their books at our event, compared to buying them new on Amazon, it wasn’t only the sellers that did well for their money! There were massive savings for buyers too – a total of £1562 was spent by students, compared to a total spend of £4492 if bought on amazon, giving Huddersfield student buyers a huge saving of £2922! One student saved £106.57 on the 10 books they bought, whilst another bought 14 books for a total of £126.49 compared to £357.31 on Amazon – a big saving of £230.82.

Due to the success of the book sale we will be holding a final sweep-up sale taking place this coming Monday 5 October between 11.00 and 14.00 in the SU giving you a chance at grabbing a bargain on the remaining 307 books. A full list of the books available for sale will be at the event.
