Hello everyone,
Sexual ‘Elf’ Week - corny joke klaxon - is dedicated to getting students’ talking about safe sex, consent, healthy relationships and STI’s this festive season.
Starting from Tuesday 6th December, the SU will be orginising a week of events and landmarks such as elves,
goodie bags and a Christmas tree with a… difference. 🎄
We’ll also be having some fun competitions with prizes, including guessing how many condoms are in a jar and attempting to wrap a present with extremely slippery hands!
Sexual health is an incredibly important issue that should not be ignored! According to the ‘2015 Health Protection Report,’ last year saw 435,000 diagnoses of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and the biggest group affected by these illnesses are under-25s.
But, don’t worry! We’re always here to talk if you need advice or have questions about sexual health. It’s important to educate yourself so you feel 100% comfortable talking about something that might be a tad embarrassing.
Sexual ‘Elf’ Week is our attempt to talk to you – the students – about this issue and have a bit of fun in the process!
This isn’t all about STIs though, we’ll also be focusing on the importance of healthy relationships and maintaining your mental health.
We’ll have the Worry Eater hanging out around campus, where you can tell us all about some of the things concerning you in complete confidentiality, as well as workshops dedicated to better our understanding of what makes a relationship healthy and combat abuse.
Don’t forget if you have any problems relating to your studies or life in general, you can always visit the advice centre for help - their office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm or contact them on 01484 473446 or advice-centre@hud.ac.uk. Whatever the problem, they’re always happy to help!
It should be a great week and we hope you have fun participating!
