One of our favourite things about Huddersfield is it’s independent coffee shops. Some of you will have joined us on Coffee Crawl, but if not, here are some of our favourites.
The Turntable is a family run coffee and record shop selling locally sourced coffee and cakes, delicious doorstop sandwiches, tasty soups, unbelievably good sourdough toasties. It’s the perfect spot for a light lunch if you love music.
That’s because as well as being a great cafe, the Turntable is also a record shop! They have a huge collection of vinyls and merch and it’s also a lovely gig venue. It’s the perfect place to look for a musical muse or simply to hang out with friends. If you bring your out-of-town friends here, they’ll want to move in...
Our favourite thing about them is their sustainability plan. They use locally sourced and sustainable products and offset all staff travel and delivery carbon emissions by planting trees with Ecologi. They also also offer free carbon neutral on records within 3 miles of the shop!
You can find The Turntable at 35 New St in Huddersfield.

Coffeevolution is simply a staple of Huddersfield. It opened in 2000, becoming the first independent coffee shop in Huddersfield centre. It’s favoured by locals of all ages, students, professional and creatives alike so it’s a great place to meet new people and truly get a taste of Huddersfield.
You may have heard of their sister company, a local independent business Bean Brothers, whose products you can find instore. The most popular coffee is the house blend which includes “Derek” one of the Bean Brothers’ roasts.
The menu is both mouth-watering and diverse, with a range of breakfasts, freshly made sandwiches (served on artisan bread), bagels with delicious fillings, hearty soups, and salads as well as pastries, and cakes. Freshly baked goods are provided by local, independent suppliers Holmemades and Roger’s Bakery.
And of course, the coffee is divine, with a choice of having it served as an espresso-based beverage, V60 drip, Aeropress or Chemex. But our absolute favourite for the winter season is their hot chocolate…
You can find Coffeevolution on Church Street in Huddersfield.
Check out their website and socials at www.coffeevolution.co.uk and @coffeevolution.
Arcade Coffee and Food is a welcoming environment, the coffee and brunch shop of your dreams! Serving up the finest Darkwoods coffee and plenty of non- caffeinated options, Arcade is the perfect spot to catch up with friends, catch up with work, or just to chill out.
If you're looking for a feast, keep an eye out for their regular Supper Clubs -- each event presents a stunning culinary theme for your delight!
They pride themselves on having tons of options for vegans and gluten-free guests - give a member of staff a shout if you have any questions about allergens and they'll find something you'll love.
If this hasn’t convinced you to branch out, we don’t know what will! Let us know if you go to The Turntable, Coffeevolution or Arcade Coffee by tagging your pics on social media.
