Hi everyone!

It’s term 3, time to revise and get those deadlines in! 😩

Before I talk to you about what I’ve been up to, I would just like to say that if anyone is feeling stressed or down at all in this hectic time of the year, the SU Advice Centre is running Happy Café which is free to attend and is designed to give you a nice relaxing break from your studies! Come up to the SU to find out more… there’s loads of free LUSH stuff too!

Anyway…..

One thing I am sure you are all aware of this year is that I’ve tried to help you guys be more charitable in our local Community, and help out some of the amazing causes we have here in Huddersfield… and I’m not planning on stopping!

Working together with Storthes Hall, The Welcome Centre and The British Heart Foundation; Huddersfield Students’ Union is running a CLEAR OUT Campaign.

Why? Well, every single year nearly 10,000 of our students move in and out of Halls and student accommodation, and with that comes a lot of unwanted items. Therefore, my aim is to give you guys the opportunity to donate your unwanted items to those in need rather than them going straight in the bin!

Up at Storthes Hall, DIGS have organised for The Welcome Centre to come and collect any donations made by tenants after you have all moved out at the end of June. Storthes Hall and The Welcome Centre ask you to leave any unwanted items in the Kitchen of your Flat so they can easily come in and collect them once you’ve gone. If you are planning to move out before the move out date and still wish to donate items, please speak to one of the DIGS team up at Storthes Hall.

Alongside this, the Students’ Union has partnered with The British Heart Foundation on their “Pack For Good” Campaign, accepting clothes, accessories, shoes, books, DVD’s and CD’s! We welcome donations from both students and staff, so don’t be afraid to come upstairs and donate as much as you can! 💰

Donation bags are available from the unmissable BIG red donation box in the SU, or from the SU front desk.

For more information just drop me a message either on Facebook at @CommunityHudSU or by email at su.communities@hud.ac.uk 📮

Thanks guys, happy donating!
