Just Suppose are the student band who won Battle of the Bands in December 2019, as voted for by you! As part of their prize they’re supporting Marsicans at HudLive Presents on Friday 31 January. We met up with Ewan Steady, Fraser Bell, Lewis Hughes, and Oliver Hatton and asked them a few questions, read on for more…

Tell us a bit about Just Suppose, where you met, what course(s) you’re studying etc.

We’re a 4-piece Alternative/Indie band comprising vocals, guitars, bass and drums who met in our first year of university, all of us studying some variant of music course. 2 years, 2 singles and 1 EP later – we’re happy to say we are still together and looking forward to what we hope will be our best year yet!

How did you find the experience of Battle of the Bands, what would you say to anyone thinking of entering next year?

Battle of the Bands was a very enjoyable experience for us, all of the heats and the final had a great lively atmosphere and it was really great to see so many people turning out to see the bands playing live. For some of the bands playing it was their first real gig, and to have so many people there for that is a great start. While it wasn’t a first gig for us, we’d definitely recommend entering Battle of the Bands to bands starting out as - even if you don’t end up winning - it’s a great way to get heard by a lot of people.

How do you feel about winning?

It feels amazing. We’re still so overwhelmed by the amount of support we had from all of our fans and people hearing us for the first time. It was down to you guys that we got through to the final and then won the competition and we can’t thank you enough for it :)

Are you excited to be supporting Marsicans at HudLive Presents?

We certainly are, it’s our kick off for gigs this year and we hope to make it a great one. We’re really hyped to be supporting Marsicans and we’re sure they’ll make the event one to remember! Marsicans have had a whirlwind 18 months, with sold-out dates up and down the UK, they headlined the BBC Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds in 2019, and they've had over 11 million Spotify streams.
