Music fans rejoice – Huddersfield SU are proud to announce that, from today, we are an official venue of The Coffee House Sessions!

But what exactly is Coffee House Sessions you ask, other than sounding like a caffeine-fuelled event? We’ll tell you!

Each week several up-and-coming music acts tour around the country, visiting Universities from Bath Spa to Warwick, and now the University of Huddersfield Students' Union has been added to the list with the first session taking place today as part of Student Media Week*!

Past success stories that have taken part in the sessions include the massive Hudson Taylor who have sold more than 20,000 copies of their EPs to date; as well as past (and recent) HudLive acts Kimberly Anne and The Carnabys.

The first to visit us here in Huddersfield is the amazing Luke Sital-Singh, who will undoubtedly be a household name in years to come.

His moody and atmospheric acoustic sound pairs well with his richly textured voice in a style not dissimilar from popular artists Ben Howard or James Bay, and his latest songs Still (an original song with a deep emotional side) and Wildest Dreams (a re-imagining of the popular Taylor Swift song of the same name) are already shaping up to be breakout hits in the indie world.

You can catch Luke today, Wednesday 7 October at 12:15pm, behind the stairs in Student Central Level 4.

Coffee House Sessions will take place every Wednesday, so keep your eyes peeled for each great artist who comes to visit! You never know - this time next year they might be chart-toppers.

Next week, make sure you keep your eye out for Australian Idol winner, Natalie Gauci who will be performing for us on Wednesday 14 October! See our Facebook event for more details about the up-and coming performance.

* Student Media Week is all this week (from Monday 5 October to Friday 9 October) and is designed to showcase our Student Media societies and help people get involved. Student Media is always a great thing to get involved with in any capacity, and there are lots of ways you can join in.

Whether it's TV you're interested in, magazines/newspapers that take your fancy, or broadcast radio that excite you, make sure to look out for events around campus and take a look at some more information. We couldn't recommend it more!
