Student society, Huddersfield University Pole Dancing Academy (HUPDA), have braved a muddy 5km obstacle course to raise an amazing £350 for Cancer Research UK.
Emily Jenkins from HUPDA said: “A lot of our members were passionate about cancer research and how it affected a lot of people.
“To make it [fundraising] as fun as possible we looked into different events and chose Pretty Muddy 5km Leeds which involved a five kilometre obstacle course through mud and water with running in-between!”
Obstacles included tyre steps, mud pools, tunnels, assault climbs and a very muddy climb and slide to finish.
Emily continued: “We didn’t come home as clean as we arrived. We had eight girls take part and raised roughly £350 with donations still coming in even now after the event!
“The day was amazing with such a high amount of team spirit throughout the course.
“We were lucky to have good weather and everyone absolutely loved it, I’m so proud of the girls and the money we raised for such a worthy charity!”
HUPDA aims to make pole dancing accessible to university students of any age, gender or ability. The lessons are for fun and fitness and aim to help you make new friends, boost your confidence, lose weight, tone up, and improve your core strength and flexibility.
They recently achieved bronze accreditation in the Activities Quality Mark thanks to their engaging and active sessions and community spirit.
You can find more information about the society on their webpage and they’re also active on both Facebook and Twitter.
