H-KARTS have started their racing season with a bang, bringing home a convincing 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th in the opening round of the 2015 Yorkshire Cup Karting Series.
Along with the four teams representing Huddersfield, entries from Leeds, Leeds Beckett and York made their way to Pole Position Indoor Karting (Leeds) last Wednesday for a gruelling two hour endurance race to kick off this years' regional competition.
Leeds Beckett briefly led the race ahead of the leading H-KARTS drivers, Ollie Greenwood and Olly Smith, as Huddersfield's Josh Butcher charged through the field in the first half an hour from 11th to 4th place.
As the first hour of the race passed, Huddersfield's Shaun Arnold took the race lead for the first team and never looked back, with all eyes now on Tom Sansbury's fight with the 2nd-placed Leeds Beckett driver for runner-up honours.
Time lost due to congestion in the pit area proved to be too much to overcome for Huddersfield's second team however, and Leeds Beckett pulled ahead to finish 2nd as the flag dropped.
A solid 4th and 5th for the remaining two H-KARTS teams ensured Huddersfield was well clear points-wise in the end, with the club now looking forward to continued success in Round Two next month.
