Hi everyone, I bet you’re all excited for Welcome Festival! Whether you’re a new ‘fresher’, returning to University or a mature student, this year we have something for everyone. Our Welcome Festival will be packed full of ways for you to get involved with the HSU Community. Got any questions about the Students’ Union? Look for the people in pink shirts!

You’re all excited to meet your new flatmates right?! When you first arrive, our Cheerleading and American Football Clubs will be there to help you find your feet, we’ve also got HSU Neighbours who are there year-long to make sure you’re settled into your new home and will answer any questions or concerns you have.

Welcome Festival is jam-packed full of activities – plus there’s two whole days of the Welcome Fair, plenty of time to meet Societies, Sports Clubs and get those freebies (basically what you’re all here for right?). We have so many Societies and Sports Clubs to get involved with, and you might even find your new best friends there too! (All of our current officers have either been on a society committee or heavily involved with Students’ Union life and have benefitted hugely from the support of the SU!)

Our line-up is incredible this year - we have Dick and Dom for Throwback Thursday who will be performing a DJ set of full of the most memorable hits. The HudLive lineup includes drum and bass star Friction, indie rock band Swim Deep, and dance king MistaJam! There’s also the Campus Tea Party, Laser Quest and HudQuiz (did you know we have a new Quiz Society?!).

Getting back home couldn’t be safer with our Safe Taxi Policy – if you ever find yourself short of cash on a night out, order a taxi that’s on the scheme and let the driver take a picture of your student ID. The taxi company will then invoice the Students’ Union and you can come back and pay the next day. If you ever feel unsafe in a pub or bar, go to the bar staff and ask for ‘Angela’, they will then know to take you away from the situation and will make sure you’re okay.
