Great news reached my inbox today and I thought it would be great to celebrate such a positive win with you all.
Since the first term of this academic year, Radio Hud had to live with unbearable heat within the radio studio, which is situated in the Students’ Union.
Dehydration was the top risk within the studio and this meant there was a real risk that presenters would not be properly hydrated while working within the studio. In addition to that, the Students’ Union had to purchase a fan to ensure that the radio studio could be cool enough for presenters to feel comfortable while being on-air.
We worked together and wrote a letter to the department of Estates and Facilities at the University. The letter was accompanied by 150 signatures, collected from Union Councillors, students and radio presenters, who fully understood and supported the situation.
Petitioning was the only option we had to ensure that Estates would hear from Radio Hud and present them with a suitable solution to their technical difficulties.
Thanks to this petition, today I can happily announce that the Radio Hud studio heating issue will finally be solved. As a matter of fact, we had a meeting with the company that will be installing air conditioning in the Radio Hud studio and the company has confirmed it is going to do as much as possible to not disturb the broadcasting activity of Radio Hud while installing the equipment.
I would like to personally thank all students, officers, part-time officers, and staff members who supported the petition. A special thank you goes to the department of Estates and Facilities for acting on the petition and taking action on the matter.
Last, but not least, well done Radio Hud for achieving such a positive win!
