With the Easter break almost over and the madness that is final term just around the corner, we’ve got the ideal week lined up for you to get you to enjoy before the madness that is exam and deadline season!

Starting this Monday (20 April) is RAG week, the one week a year we dedicate to our amazing RAG society. Although our Raise And Give society operate throughout the year, raising money for their chosen charities, RAG week allows us to give them a real push in terms of activities, events, and most importantly fundraising!

In 2014 the week raised a massive £1717.70, however with the amount of activities planned for RAG Week 2015, I’m confident that we can smash that this year and even pass the £2000 mark! What makes me even more confident of meeting this target is the amount of support that the week has already had, especially from our sports clubs and societies, with several of them helping out by hosting their own RAG supporting events throughout the week.

Monday

Monday sees the start of RAG week, which is being kicked off with our Football Club hosting a 5 a-side football tournament, with the £2 per player entry fee going directly to the RAG fund. In addition to this we also have La Petite Bretonne on the plaza throughout the day, where 50p of each sweet or savoury crepê that they sell will also be donated. With Spring Break being on Monday evening at Warehouse, RAG will also be attending and providing UV face-paint for the UV bubble party at the event!

Tuesday

Tuesday promises to be another class day on campus as American Football are hosting their very own dodge-ball tournament! If you think you can master the 6 D’s (Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, Donate... and Dodge!) then make sure you head down to the sports hall from 10:00 to give it a go! We also have HudEnterprise society hosting their own coffee afternoon from 14:00 until 16:00 over in the DOYYEK (3M Building) which gives you a great opportunity to go and explore those facilities if you haven’t managed to do so already.

Wednesday

We’re throwing it back on Wednesday with a RAG Carnival which will be taking place all day out on the plaza! Featuring retro carnival games such as Hook-a-Duck and Tin Can Alley, the day will also be supported by stalls, games, and challenges from the four chosen charities of RAG allowing you to find out a bit more about where your donations will be going. Once again the day features support from our societies, with our Chemical Engineering and Quidditch societies also hosting activities!

Thursday

Thursday is going to be another big day with RAG-e-oke taking place in Student Central from 11:00 onwards! We’ll have a stage and screen set up, and anyone who wants to have a sing-song can do just that after donating! In addition to Rag-e-oke, we are partnering up with our on-campus bank, Santander, who is supporting the cause by pledging to match however much money is raised for RAG on Thursday!

Friday

The SU floor will be hosting the Great Huddersfield Bake Off on the Friday, once again, all in aid of RAG Week! The theme is Yorkshire Cupcakes, and we want you to be as creative as possible and bring in your cakes. The entry fee for the bake off is £3 as your cupcakes will then be judged, with prizes awarded, before they get sold at our post-Bake Off Tea Party starting from 12:00! The French Society has already announced their intentions to enter the competition, along with of course the HudCooks Society fully supporting the event!

Weekend

The week doesn’t end there though, as RAG will be taking over the monthly HudQuiz at Rhubarb on Sunday, as they are hosting a 90s style quiz! This will also be supported by RadioHud who will be showcasing a brand new style of game, Rock’n’Roll Bingo, where typical bingo numbers are replaced by songs!

So that’s a quick run-through of everything that’s going on throughout next week! Make sure you get as involved as you can, because we really do want to smash the £2000 target for RAG Week!
