Commute to University? You're not alone, a massive 50% of all students at the University of Huddersfield face the exact same!
You might be asking yourself 'What's a commuter student?' Well, a commuter student typically doesn’t live in halls or student accommodation and travels into University. Something we know all too well about it is that for commuter students, the struggle is real:
From setting the alarm extra early:
To battling the rush-hour traffic:
Only to find all the best parking spots have been taken:
Or ditching the car completely and attempting to travel on public transport:
There is nothing worse than travelling all the way to University, only to find out your lecture has been cancelled:
Or worse still, all the waiting around in between your lectures!
If all that wasn’t enough some of you might still be living at home with your parents...
Seeing any similarities yet? To coincide with ReFreshers’ Week we're running Commuter Appreciation Week, from 8:30am – 9:30am next Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th and Thursday 19th where we'll be showing our appreciation to you! We're laying on FREE breakfast with drinks each day to take the edge off that journey that may not always be oh so nice. All we'll need to see is something that shows you've travelled in, be that all types of travel tickets, photos of dated parking tickets and online travel tickets! Winning!
Feel like you can relate, then we want to hear from you!
We want to hear about your commuting stories, be that good, bad or ugly. We'll also be on hand talking to you about safety on and off campus, improving your employability through volunteering and how you can get involved in Sports Clubs and Societies this term. Keep a lookout for the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Teaching and Learning, Christine Jarvis who will be helping to dish out the breakfasts!
Making student life better is sort of our thing, so on top of this, we'll be offering out chances of winning a contribution towards your travel costs! Come and find us on Floor 5, Student Central all week to find out more.
Can't wait to see you all there!
