Blood is pretty important. If you or people you care about were ever in the situation needing a transfusion, you'd like to think the NHS would be able to help. Despite this, less than 3% of the population actively give blood on a regular basis, leaving only a small propertion of people supporting this vital service.

Based on one of #YourBigIdeas submitted by Megan Platt of the Nursing Society (thank you Megan!), today we were paid a visit by the NHS Blood and Transplant team, who were on hand to test your blood type as well as share their knowledge and advice to help you become a blood donor.

If you missed them on campus and are interested in finding out your blood type / becoming a blood donor, below is a list of upcoming sessions in the Huddersfield area where you can do just that:

  • 02/12/2015 - The Masonic Hall, 26 Greenhead Road, Huddersfield, HD1 4EN
  • 11/12/2015 - Southgate Methodist, Langdale Street, Elland, HX5 0JL
  • 22/12/2015 - Crow Lane Primary, Milnsbridge, Crow Lane, Huddersfield, HD3 4QT
  • 07/01/2016 - Moldgreen United Reformed Church, Old Wakefield Road, Dalton, Huddersfield, HD5 8AA
